White Mahala

White Mahala

Romania - Bucharest

White Mahala burst onto the scene in 2014, founded by actor Ovidiu Niculescu alongside Daniel Nicolae (keyboard), Silviu Enache (guitar), and Doru Cinca (drums). Their debut album, Cocoselu, was released on November 14, 2014, laying the groundwork for their signature blend of folk, ska, rock, and tongue-in-cheek lyricism - music that is as lively as it is thoughtful.

Musical Style & Legacy Their sound, often described as rock-ska neo-bohemian, fuses traditional Romanian "mahala" (neighborhood) vibes with modern energy and humor. Evocative of bands like Zdob si Zdub and Dubioza Kolektiv, they channel a nostalgic yet fresh attitude that invites dancing, smiling, and reflection all at once.

Recent Albums & Touring In 2024, White Mahala released their follow-up album, Inevitabil, described as a natural evolution of Cocoselu. Featuring 13 energetic tracks with influences spanning folk, ska, rock, etno, pop, and dance, the album continues their tradition of humor-infused storytelling and infectious melodies.

To promote Inevitabil, the band embarked on a national tour from April 12 to June 6, 2024, playing major cities including Cluj, Bistrita, Iasi, Bucharest, Brasov, Sibiu, and Timisoara, bringing new tunes and familiar hits like "1000 de pahare," "E dracoasa mandra mea," and "Canta mahalaua."
